A controversial football agent who has close links to managers like Sam Allardyce and Harry Redknapp is in hot water with the Department of Trade and Industry.

SportsDirect News can reveal McKay Sports Management, a company owned by Willie McKay a€“ the man who has earned millions out of transfer deals with West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers in recent seasonsa€“ is being threatened with closure by Companies House, an a€śexecutive agencya€ť of the DTI.

McKay is a Scottish FIFA-licensed agent who has brokered multi-million pound deals with players like QPRa€™s Joey Barton. In the past, hea€™s been investigated by the police over alleged corruption and probed by the FA over potential transfer irregularities.

According to West Ham, the club paid a significant amount of the AŁ13 million it has splashed out on agents during the last three seasons to McKay.

Willie McKay's always struck me as being the sort of guy who'll always find work as a Glasgow enforcer.

    A real piece of work.
