A financial impact study carried out by Ryder Cup Ltd concludes that the tournament at the Celtic Manor Resort injected an additional i82.4m into the south Wales economy, with an estimated i28m of that going directly to Newport companies

This was an opportunity for Visit Scotland to promote Scotland and maximise the potential economic benefits from staging the tournament. The cost of promotion will be a drop in the ocean compared to what will be pumped in to the Scottish economy. This article is a non story. Countries do these things all the time. Some people just don't like Scotland promoting itself. it was the same with Brave which is estimated to be worth i120 million to the Scottish economy. I wonder what the costs were for David Cameron's and his entourage trip to China recently. Did labour put in a freedom of info request on that one?
