Thread: Why would any striker want to join us anyway?

    Why would any striker want to join us anyway?

    Given Uncle Sam's tunnel vision on playing one striker only, AC if fit, why would another striker of any value want to join us?

    Unless Uncle Sam is planning a tactical revolution and decides to play two strikers, any new striker would soon know that:

    - at best they would only be number two in the pecking order;

    - if picked in the same lineup as AC, they would probably be asked to play wide or at right back; and

    - they would soon get neck-ache due to hoofball.

    Shed loads of dosh would probably be the only rationale reason for joining.

    In the meantime its good to see that strikers are flying in from all over the world for talks and that the club goes through the motions of making bids for players they know will never sign.

    it's a bit catch-22... if a striker did willingly sign, it would suggest to me that he would be happy to sit on the bench.
