You honestly think the BoE would bail out Irish banks and not Scottish banks? The system of regulation which caused the banking crisis was a UK problem by the way, not a Scottish one.

A UK solution to a UK-generated problem, wow, fancy that. Next you'll be saying England won the Battle of Britain single-handed!!

Saying that, if the likes of RBS had been paying tax to the Scottish exchequer, the bailout would have been easily covered

Did you know RBS paid 8bn to the UK treasury in a single year? Just think what Scotland could have done with that money, the weejie streets (to the dole office) would be paved with gold

Peg,either you haven't read what I said properly or I've written it so poorly you don't understand.

I don't think for a moment the EC would block our entry nor did I say they would.

Standard&Poor, with no vested interests, have made this comment...

"Meanwhile, in a separate development, credit ratings agency Standard and Poor's gave its assessment of the viability of an independent Scotland, saying "the challenge for Scotland to go it alone would be significant, but not unsurpassable".

That'll get right up the No campaigners on here

speaking as someone who is voting YES ... I would like to see us go down the Norway route as regards to the EU ie associate member ... the EU is in negotiations with the USA in regards to trade and big corporations which will increase trade between the EU and The USA ... the big catch is the Big Corporations can take governments to court and sue them for lose of business or hampering business opportunities like the ban on GM foods by the EU could be made illegal and removing power from governments ... to me this is a dangerous precedent
