    Atmosphere V Forest

Steve Nicholson is saying it's the best atmosphere he has heard at Pride park for Derby Forest game, he thinks due to moving the fans behind the goals.

What do people think, was it louder and was that the reason.

I was in the North Stand today which I'm not normally. I have to say it was immense to see the bank of fans behind the South Stand goal (where I normally am). The atmosphere was the best I have heard...but then again we were playing local rivals and were 3-0 up. The only downside was that different sections of the ground were not quite "singing from the same song sheet" and therefore not in sync. But yes, it was hard to remember anything better.

Thought they were awesome today. Even before the match. Congrats are due to flagman and Sam on this one.

Looked and sounded immense. The telling point is that when the Forest fans were singing (before conceeding 5 goals), they were totally drowned out and I could barely hear them.

People may say that being a derby game makes it hard to judge on - but I disagree. 2k Forest fans are always going to be louder than 200 Wigan fans. Usually 200 away fans behind the goal are drowing out the vocal corner, where as 200 away fans in the corner seems a much better option.

The only time I've heard it louder at PP / Ipro was at the playoff semi with Saints, and that was because of their relentless "yellow" chant behind the goal.

A sound success, I make no excuse for the pun!

I have always said that away fans should be located in that corner permanently, every single match. That section becomes easily isolated and has less impact in the ground.

It's where away fans were put when the stadium first opened, back then the atmosphere was so much better and I always thought that moving them to behind the goal was completely the wrong thing to do and the atmosphere generated from home fans changed for the worse from that point.

What I don't agree with is doing it temporarily - make it permanent. The proof is in the pudding and there were plenty of servings of it yesterday, what more proof do the club need ?

it was a great atmosphere but lets not forget we scored after 6 minutes and went on to win 5-0! if that doesn't create a good atmosphere I don't know what will.

one thing is for certain, the forest fans may as well have been in the library.

so whether it's created a better atmosphere or not, it's certainly succeeded in muting the away fans.
