Ben Pringle is a different type of player to Tony Towner playing in a wide position. Pringle is more like Beckham, his skill and pace rarely beats a player but give him space to cross he's accurate and time to shoot he's lethal. Tony Towner ran at players terrorising them with his skill and pace getting fans stood on their toes. Unlike many players of his type he had an end product and did it every week not twice a season.

You can only consider a team's quality in the context of the time and the quality and resources of competing teams. The 80-81 side were Champions in a league including teams like Fulham, Blackpool, Hull, Sheff Utd, Reading, Portsmouth and Huddersfield. The next season they registered an aggregate 10-1 against Chelsea. I doubt the current team could achieve either equivalent feats.
