    Ratings v Walsall

Although we went ahead I don't think we looked particularly comfortable at any stage. We were done for pace on a couple of occasions very early on. Some of the players looked a bag of nerves and this was reflected in the way we played too deep in both halves. After more of the same ( ie nothing ) from Amoo in the first few minutes after half time it was crying out for Matty Robson to be brought on - at least we'd have got 100% effort and commitment from him. Bringing off CMW for another defender was laughable if it wasn't so obvious that yet again he is Kavanagh's whipping boy.

Pickford 7 one terrific save but still lacking judgement at times best illustrated with the dash out to left back early in the 2nd half. Better judgement will come with more experience.

Chimbonda 6 far too casual at times but linked well with Symington down the right in 2nd half

CMW 7 safety first and reasonably solid

Thirlwell 6 would have been better employed further forward

Chantler 6 a couple of good ta

Can't argue with the ratings or general view. We looked nervous throughout. The system isn't working whatever that is. The midfield was anonymous during most of the first half and second half it was backs to the wall as we conceded ground and the ball to a good and well organised (well coached) Walsall side.

My ideal formation would be 4-1-4-1 with Thirwell in front of the back four. At least if we played that set up we shouldn't concede midfield to the opposition or be overrun on the flanks. However, what do I know. I turn up every week hoping that things will improve...!

Even if we had won yesterday it would have papered over the massive fissures underlying the quality of the team. If we play like we did yesterday we will get stuffed at Peterborough. We have to attack them but keep it tight and organised at the back 4-1-4-1 not what ever system Kav is using.

    Nuff said...

Just a couple of notes to what on the whole are fair ratings.

    Berrett - 1 - why?

Amoo - 5 - We know he's better and Kav needs to get it out of him.

The Manager - nice bloke but do me a favour!
