I don't understand why the patron Saint of Poland and Lithuania would ever have anything to do with England. I suppose you could say the same about George, but his cult has been mentioned often in England for a thousand years and he has been protector of the British (well English actually) royal family for more than 500 years.
I would suggest either Boniface (Germany's patron Saint) or Patrick would be more suitable for our patron (both being English). St David is one of not too many patron Saints who actually comes from the country he is patron Saint of (Andrew has nowt to dee with scothland of course).
Or is it just that you think we shouldert of an holiday for England's patron, but Polish and Lithuanian workers should get an holiday

Arfs.
St George is also the patron saint of Georgia where there are loads of churches dedicated to him and Moscow. Tims in Rome nicked him hence he ended up in England. Wouldn't Arthur be better for England? The French are claiming him as theirs so get in quick. Bit of a better choice than a Libyan I would have thought.
That Casimir was a Baltic knight wasn't he. The Lithuanians conquered from Moscow down through Poland and into Hungary. He was canonised for converting to Christinity and not taking the Orthodox route as I remember. Patron saint of half a dozen football teams
