    re: U-18's v Charlton

I know the coaches always downplay the results side of things in these 'development' games, but it's great to see Crewe Alexandra teams in both finals of the Category Two Professional Development League.
Clearly we're still producing fine footballers, and the winning can do no harm; success can sometimes breed success.
It needs to be borne in mind also that each of the under 21 and under 18 teams could've been stronger, on paper, had it not been for the first team calling on some under 21s and the under 21s calling on under 18s.

This morning's game saw a James Jones penalty for Crewe, a handball on the line by James Baillie, so a sending off and an equalizer for Charlton. With ten men they held out until the first period of extra time, then Charlton had a player sent off, and Crewe equalized. Crewe scored their first four penalties, missed a chance to win it with the fifth, but secured the victory with the first sudden death penalty.
They'd lost to Reading in the Youth Cup on penalt
