Agreed gersforme re how the thread goes. Controversial issues can be discussed if people stick to the point.Originally Posted by gersforme
Adams' claims of support for but never membership of the IRA just never rang true imho. He had offered to present himself for interview to the PSNI weeks ago even before Ivor Bell was arrested over the murder of Jean McConville. Thing is though the PSNI chose not to interview him back then.
Now that campaigning for local and European elections is up and running the PSNI decided to interview Adams and arrested him last night. The timing of the arrest does have hallmarks of being politically motivated but if they've proof he did it then the arrest is good news.
Hopefully it isn't just a political stunt to appease certain parties.
Its pretty obvious thats what it is and I would guess nothing will come out of it but whoever was involved in that murder should be brought to justice.
I am sure he will have a get out of jail free card courtesy of Tony Blair within his posession.
He once spoke to me in the BMI lounge at Heathrow; so this is potentially two murderers I have conversed with during my lunchtime...two more than I'd have liked to.
I despise both military wings of NI.
Forgetting the poor disappeared woman for a moment, doesn't the fact that Adams is a target for dissident republicans mean he must be doing something right?
No. It means the dissidents are even more evil than he is.Originally Posted by blanche
I read 'A Secret History of the IRA' by Ed Moloney and Adams gets more than a fleeting mention.
