Be a good warm up for the season for both teams as well, instead of just the insipid training games that make up pre season preparations.

Maybe Forest should play some sort of cup game vs Matlock Town or Ilkeston? That is after all where all their fans go on a Saturday when Forest start losing.

In a similar vein to the Bledisloe cup in the antipodes, every game that is played is played for the cup.

Talk of changing this - or denigrating why both teams set it up is insulting the.

I think that if a separate match is arranged purely to contest the trophy, it would do more to mark Brian's memory than anything else. My point being that in the current arrangement, the league or potential cup result is far more important than the trophy.

Just in my opinion of course.
