    LAST NIGHT'S ATTENDANCE

The attendance was put at 1996 slightly higher than the Livingston game which was put at 1923.

I find this hard to accept but Palmerston is a strange ground and crowds sometimes look bigger than they are.

The Official capacity is 7620 excluding the Terregles Street end.

This is broken down to New stand (East) - 2200
Old stand (West) 1309 - Portland Drive Terracing including West stand enclosure 4111.

The Old Stand looked almost full,New stand half full and the Portland Drive Terracing and enclosure about one third full.

You do the maths - what do you think ?

Why do people always question the size of crowd at Palmerston ?

You do know its a serious offence making fraudulent claims like under quoting crowd figures ?

    If Queens say it's 1996 , then it's 1996 - Simples

I think that once again, something just does not add up, if we are led to believe that there were only 73 more people inside the ground than there was against Livingston that is really quite bizarre, my rough estimate would have been at least 2200.

I know you don't have a zip up the back of your head Admin and you really should know the answer to this!

Yes the crowd did look larger than normal but since the gate money is split 50/50 between us and the league I think it was pretty obvious that Queens were always going to shave a few hundred off the official figure!!

There was a very interesting conversation goi

Wee point of order here Admin. The 7620 capacity does include almost 1000 for the Terregles St. terrace. The Portland Drive terrace has a capacity of about 3000. Having said that, I tend to agree with you that it looked more than the number announced. Very difficult to guestimate though.

Thanks for that - didn't realise the Scottish Fooball Ground Guide had been updated. Looked at the capacity but didn't read the update..

    re: LAST NIGHT'S ATTENDANCE

As Season Tickets were not valid last night everyone in attendance should have bought a match ticket, so number of ticket stubs handed in by turnstile attendants equals number of people there equals official attendance. Obviously this does not include those entitled to free entry, complimentaries etc, but that number would surely be minimal. I'm sure those in the know can honestly state that the official attendance given was genuine.

The home game before ( month ago ) against Falkirk was given as 1860 odd. Are we seriously saying there was only an extra 130 bodies on top of that at Palmerston on Tuesday ?
