On the subject of burglars, I've often wondered where that ubiquitous outfit (hooped jersey, face mask, flat cap) originated...

Has ANY burglar EVER actually dressed like this? I'm thinking that any real life burglar might actually benefit by wearing such a costume - if spotted, surely no one would believe such a person was seriously going out on a job... more likely the assumption would be a fancy dress party somewhere.

Carrying a torch and a large sack with the word "SWAG" written across it would simply add to the double-bluff!!
