After seeing the pitch on video by the end of the season, I kind of wish they'd put AŁ100,000 into the pitch rather than another player. I mean, when you have to change your preferred style of play because YOUR OWN pitch is torn up, it's time to change something.
Isn't it rather early to comment on the state of the new pitch?
A prediction - Not for England to win the world cup, or the alex to storm L1 (although hopefully!).
The pitch will look great for the first game and for the first 2 months and people will praise it.
After this it will show signs of wear and come the end of October will be a little rough. The rest of the winter it will be bare ( particularly under main stand), bobbly when dry, slippy when wet and difficult to pass on.
Despite some issues to deal with, this is due to the poor maintenance from those responsible for its upkeep.
Trust me its one bet that's guaranteed!
Revisit this in November and we will see.
I don't know who the groundsman is, but it strikes me that he's not the sharpest tool in the box.
And yet our training centre is at Reaseheath, a "land-based" college, i.e. a specialist in agriculture.
Aren't there qualified soil and turf technicians there who could be consulted on a problem that is clearly beyond the incumbent at Gresty Road?
Or is this person simply unsackable, for all the usual reasons (e.g. he's cheap)?
john huxley is the groundsman - hes a great guy who is good at his job - BUT hes bein asked to cut corners all the time
use to have a couple of staff under him OLD YTS type of thing - but think they were cut back
skylights would save a lot of these problems - wern not the only club with big stands along the pitch
and again isnt richard clayton the board member - company called (Something ? Groundworks )the man on the board with prob the least shares
