The English response from Mr Neville said it all

"People who write, 'England should follow the German route', are oblivious to the obstacles or believe in magic wands," tweeted Gary Neville on the complexity of creating a holistic approach.

While the Germans are going onto the pitch expecting to win, the English are defeated before they even hit the training ground.

If you think it's too hard to do then it's probably worth doing. Pfannenstiel is right that in Brazil it would take decades but with the power of the premier league it should be possible in less time.

The number of coaches in Germany speaks volumes for the believe and willingness to invest in the future. England go to every tournament with fingers crossed and have done since Mexico 70.

To bring football home England need to plan the journey.

It just occurred to me - how many truly great world class players have England had since 1966 that have been in an England team that underachieved?

I would list Keegan, Shilton, Adams, Pearce, Gerrard... everyone will have a list.

The above is spot on. Think of Wolves in the premiership, the youngsters didn't get a sniff.

Also the article says that foreign players get twice as many minutes playing time in the prem compared to British players at the moment... shocking.
