    OK we were pants but looking at Uruguay as a "minnow" because of its small population is disengenuous. They have consistently punched above their weight since the World Cup was started. In terms of the crowd and location they had virtual home advantage. And the one world class player on the pitch was the difference. Fair play to them.

    I find it laughable that the Premier League calls itself "the best league in the world". What was it this last season? One Premier League team got to the semis in the Champions League, and one Premier League team got to the last 16 in the Europa League. As that hardly makes it the best league in Europe, it takes an awfully big league in imagination and Premier League PR to claim to be the best in the world. Richest (at the moment) maybe, but best? We now have to wait and see how the Premier League will turn the England debacle to their own advantage under the pretence of helping the England team.
