That's lovely...who is Hodgeson? Is he part of the English coaching set up!?Originally Posted by Rattea
Confirmed by the FA.
I Think that's the right decision. I actually think he's trying to do a Brendan Rogers with less at his disposal.

I agree mate. I see no benefit in removing him and starting again. The squad is developing nicely and hopefully there will be a few more ready for the step up by the next tournament.Originally Posted by Rattea
This England team have been good to watch - if they keep playing like that but improve defensively they could trouble most of the teams on show in this tournament.
Besides who in reality could be doing a better job, there isn't an exhaustive list of candidates even if people wanted rid of Roy. Give him time, show faith in the next generation and we will be repaid I reckon. Spain have a bigger job after their lacklustre display I reckon.

Exactly!
If you see the other thread on fundamentals then FAILDale is a prime example of what's wrong with expectations in the game. Whilst the likes of Germany, Belgium etc have shown what you can do by taking a step back and developing he's on the screaming for instant success, use bigs that have failed previously because they are a household, sack anyone you can, sack the manager and don't allow him to develop the TEAM and spend money on signings!
Oh hang on you can't do the latter at international level so you HAVE to develop the player you have at your disposal so actually sticking with your manager makes sense.
But not to those with no comprehension of the game like FAILDale. It's people like that that are responsible for the problems we've had. - view external link
I think that blaming a Derby fan for England's poor performance is probably wide of the mark. Nothing will change till the kids start playing football again - on the parks, in the street, wherever. Like they do in, say, Costa Rica or Uruguay.
Or until the FA or Premiership spend some of their millions on club team facilities and school football. It's only private schools that can afford to take sport seriously which is why more of these kids are coming through to professional level - but there are relatively few of them.
So not much hope I'm afraid - football is sick.

Id rather lose with hope for the future and a change in playing style (an actual ability to pass the ball and have technique like the rest of the world)than snatch a 0-0 draw with algeria playing turgid defensive hoofball, and go out in the first knockout stage. Im am sure there will be some who cant see the need for a big change in the way we play and who we pick to play as they will want to get knocked out in the first knockout stage every 4 years for ever, i dont mind going out in the group stages with hope that at some point in the future we can challenge again. We're a team in transition and we really need to be, and we may as well stick with roy who has stated this plan (or i suppose we couold bring in a talented, respected manager who has had success everywhere and will turn our average players into world beaters...like capello)
