    Bigmoon - I'm amazed you put McCarthy in to begin with. Not exactly a model of consistency, and one of the laziest players I've ever seen.
    I couldn't do a FULL team because I wasn't able to get past the five centre-halves I couldn't choose between!
    Definitely Keith Newton at Right Back, though.

    That first season when Benni was at Rovers, he was phenomenal, absolutely brilliant. That's why he made it in. After that season he was inconsistent, but for that one season he was unstoppable.

    But I enjoyed watching Matty Jansen play more.

    I guess its all subjective.
    I am shocked lazy pricks like Mcarthy are mentioned above a class act like Chris Sutton, who won a league title for us (imo he was a huge reason we won it). Or Matty Jansen, or Andy Cole (who scored the winner in what will be our last piece of major silverwear in a long, long, long time) or Kevin Gallagher or Craig Bellamy who was nothing short of brilliant for Rovers in an abliet short space of time. Mcarthy's attitude was disgusting for a proffesional footballer.

    . . . . . . . . . Friedel
    Hird . . Fazackerly . . Nelsen . . Le Saux
    . . . . . . Batty . . . Sherwood
    . . . Dunn . . . McKenzie . . . Tugay

    No wingers ! But would have the full backs bombing on and firing crosses in for Shearer .

    Another one for you;
    CB: Alan Hunter ?
    Went on to be integral to the 'over achieving' Bobby Robson Ipswich side !

    Re; Chris Sutton;

    Yes we are all aware of the issues surrounding Chris (with AS), but as said he was brilliant for us.
    He was obviously aided a lot initially, due in my mind Kennys astute instinct that the 5m could cause issues for the young guy. But once he was up and running he proved a very classy 'team player', none moreso than when times were tough later on and he fell back into his CB positioning where he was colosall.
    I have nothing but good memories of Chris, and seemingly a nice affable guy to boot.

    Despair - I lived in Ipswich during that era. The Alan Hunter/Kevin Beattie partnership was just about the best I have seen at centre-back.
