    O/T The Doors

Groundbreaking music changers with a self confessed poet or...
Pretentious pub standard musicians who got away with it due to the drug culture at the time?

    The Lizard King ffs.

    Just an opinion of course.

Have a couple of their albums.

OK, and definitely better than pub band level, but certainly not ground breaking innovators IMO.

Can take or leave them to be honest.

Always liked this one, "Riders on the Storm," though admittedly have no idea what it is about!?!?!?

    Same with "People are Strange."

The Doors, their songs are often an enigma wrapped in a riddle.:/ - view external link

The best of their music holds up for me. Certainly not a pub band. Ray Manzarek, who died last year, was the most talented of them.

Would you really want to do without "LA Woman," "Light My Fire," "Riders on the Storm," "Break On Through," "Roadhouse Blues," etc?

Totally agree Robus. I was probably too young to appreciate them when they were at their peak circa 1968 - 70, but I have been listening to them more and more over the last 20 years or so. Jim's antics made it more and more difficult for them to get gigs towards the end, but, for me, they left a fantastic body of work.
