Thread: The season ahead glass half full?or glass half empty?

Come on Champs, How long have teams finishing 7th got in the play offs?

You have a right to be hopeful this year as you have got a decent squad with Rhodes, Gestede (sp) and Cairney you should be able to trouble most sides in the division.
It was the mental side that let you down at times last year and you clearly lost some games you should of seen out.

The Championship will be a lot harder to win this year as it's certainly stronger than last term. If Derby keep up the run of form since McLaren took over they will be up there.

I'd be hopeful of getting in the play-offs. Thats all I was saying. Seriously, diod yiu really require me to explain that to you.
We finished 8th, we have slightly improved, I feel we may improve and could finish 7th? I hope we get in the play-offs.

    Splitting hairs ...

Glass half full imagine if we had our current strike force from the start last season ? I do feel GB made mistakes last season but hopefully he will have learnt from it.

In short we have a decent manager who has grown in the last 12 months, a very good midfield, excellant strikers, a decent keeper and a fighting chance for once!

    Only two concerns for me;
firstly, our only creative centre mid is TC so he has to be played there and stay fit/uninjured.
secondly, has GB finally recognised his most effective ploy is to be offensive?
If he has, with our front line and the above centre mid operating and with him our good wide mid players I do not hold any real concern over our back line. For the very reason that the opposition will be far too busy concerning over our offensive approach to mount too many harmful attacks.

Well my glass has gone from half empty to half full to full right to the top
Rhodes signs to end speculation check
Dunn signs so we have a plan b to 4-4-2 check
Olsson(not great but ok)signs to cover LB check
Baptiste signs for right back/centre back check
All we need now is another centre back or utilize Jack o Connell
This is a side that should 100 percent get in the play offs and have a very good chance of promotion.

Dont get the comment that Cairney is our only creative midfielder . Evans , Dunn , Marshall and especially Conway all create .
I agree Cairney is maybe our best creative central midfield player , but I do believe we now have the players to be able to cope without him if we had to .

Sorry, should have expanded that by adding; best (almost on a par with Dunny), but DD is yet another year older and history dictates he will partake even less this time around. As good as Evans is getting I dont see him in the TC/DD mould. Marshall and Conway are our wide players I refer to who expand our offensive stance. Marshall can play inside, but so far for me he is more effective wide.
Its getting on now for about 4 years since we had anything like a central midfield strategist, and TC is our new hope. I do not believe we could fully compete without him, certainly not at the level we aspire to.

    Time will tell.

Given the above I am a 'more than ha

very happy with our squad for the whole season, assuming a january transfer embargo. cough, burnley, cough, proved what can be done with a smaller settled squad..

hope gary bowyer this time has a first choice 11 in mind and gives that team a run of games, without unnessesery chopping and changing.
