before jack walker went to his grave, he wanted to buy the title. he wanted to leave his mark on the club. he could afford to do it then.
he would not have a prayer nowadays.
just to clarify, i`m only being serious about the cup win/league win comparison. my other comments were just to get a rise from champs/howie..
well they always do it to me..!

without question. but if we hadn`t won it then, we never would have done at all, as dalglish had already handed in his notice..[/quote]Originally Posted by jordan12rhodes
I always wondered if we had not won that season if Jack would have carried on, I think Dalglish only handed in his notice because Jack said he wouldn't spend any more money. I remember Dalglish was after Zidane and Walker asked him why we needed Zidane, when we had Tim Sherwood.
We should have really pushed on in 95/6, spent a load of money to consolidate our position at the top and not given the reigns to Ray Harford.

JW made it quite clear that this was not a 'long haul' relationship (in terms of his chequebook).
He saw the way football was going, he was in a position to put BRFC in
Good post,Despair.
Is Saxo a closet Burnley fan with his comments we didnt deserve this or that
Fact is,very few refereeing decisions went our way that season. We had to earn every result.Just take the two games against Man.Utd
not once have i said `didn`t deserve`, what i did say is we were fortunate on that last day..Originally Posted by Bobcrompton1896

WADR. What you seem to be suggesting is that we were lucky as it was MUFC not winning in their final game against 'lowly' WHU, when everyone knows that MUFC have the god given right to be successful whenever they take the field
Just like Spurs in a cup final (for the same reason).
Wouldn't footie be oh so boring if that was the case at every match
It would make both teams physically taking to the field pretty much pointless
Might as well make it a computer programme sport.
