    re: new stadium name.

I see the New Show Ground is proving reasonably popular. I spent many happy and many more not so happy years watching the Iron at the Old Show Ground but I'm not in favour of New Show Ground at all.

As much as I have fond memories for the old place, I also remember it as a cold wind swept venue with, for many years, barely 2000 supporters rattling round in it as we perilously hung on to league status. Older supporters will, of course, counter this with the glory days of Div 2 and Barrie Thomas but those days were far from the majority spent there.

Our club badge proudly shows off our iron and steel heritage and surely it would be appropriate to incorporate this into the modern stadium we are about to build. To me and I'm sure to most of the country a trip to the New Show Ground would have all the menace of a summers day outing to a county fair.

If the town is famous for anything it's as an iron and steel town. Sheffield is the first place you think of as a steel town or city
