Could we afford a new stadium IWA.
Maybe better spend any money on making FP safe.
Been approved apparently, almost certainly there will be appeals against it & it will end up in ft of Eric Pickles.
I just think a move away would be the best overall option, for those saying as long as FP stays as is until I croak it I'd ask this.
What about future generations of fans (your children & theirs)??
Because the SS wont get a safety certificate forever, same can be said for the NS & even parts of the ME. By your standard we could be watching PFC in ft of 10k if we're lucky because stands are unfit for purpose.
Worth thinking about IMVHO.

Mortgage??
So back in debt then
Once it's been approved no one can appeal, can only appeal if it is refused.
Yes but in debt to something tangible & manageable.Originally Posted by Scoular1
I'd also like to see the council get involved more, a part council owned stadium could be an enormous money spinner for them.
Dreams about a return to the prem are just that ,dreams, the money being paid to relegated clubs means they are favourites to return and clubs like us will not be able to achieve that goal.by the time we build up enough steam, the prem will be gone perhaps to a Euro league or even a global setup .therefore asmall decent stadium at Fratton would do for us
As Gun says it has been approved. Here is what the News is reporting.
A planned 24-hour Tesco superstore at Fratton Park has been given the green light.
Despite objections about increased traffic, pollution and the impact on other businesses in the area, the development was approved at a Portsmouth City Council planning committee meeting today.
Planning committee member Councillor Hugh Mason said: ‘I don’t think any of us feel wholly comfortable with this but I think we recognise that it needs to go forward.’
Portsmouth Football Club director Ashley Brown said he was ‘very pleased’ with the decision, which paves the way for a future redevelopment of the Pompey’s football stadium.
He said: ‘From a Portsmouth Football Club perspective we’re very pleased.
‘We’re currently boxed in at Fratton Park, and this will give us the ability to expand in the future.’
The application was approved on the proviso that the city’s planning development officer retain an ability to amend conditions
However the key point is, has there ever been any research (other than my mates up the pub said) into what the fans really want?
I mean a proper survey covering all fans and more importantly, potential fans, as to what they want from a stadium? To cover size, location, accessibility, facilities etc.
It's all very well talking about a 30k FP another matter all together how they get in and out of such a ground.
A last thought, how many Brighton and saints fans do you think would like to see a return to the dell or withdean?
The question was asked on TBA What does the Tesco deal actually mean to Pompey ?
This is what the Riddle posted
It means the landowner to our ground has had to give the club 2 acres of land and a cash sum to ensure the ground can be expanded to at least 30,000 capacity whilst allowing him to develop his site as a Tesco supermarket.
Trust me, having worked on this for the club for the past 18 months, it was the best possible deal PFC could push from from a position of simply being an interested party neighbour whom PCC had put in a very loose planning policy to 'allow the club to expand.'
Fratton park sits on approx 4.5acres. The land PFC will gain from the Tesco development is approx 2 acres, so the club's land assets will increase by approx 50%.
That land will be a strip behind the Fratton End of 13m width (originally proposed as 9m but I argued it to be 15m and we settled on 13m) where we can extend this stand backwards (single tier additional 2,000 seats, double tier co
