re: is it worth risking defeat..

After some careful thoughtful consideration I have come to the conclusion that it would be far better for all to graciously accept that he does indeed know more than everybody else. This after all being a forum for all points of view to be acknowledged.
Furthermore, when he next feels the uncontrollable urge to debate, sorry argue, with anyone/everyone he does so between posters Saxo and J12R only. We lesser mortals should desist from any 'debate' as we know nowt of any value.

JR/Saxo - you must see why you annoy people at times. You're a bit like a politician: if you don't like the question, you don't answer it!

As for the actual topic (and the Lowe thread), surely it's a matter of horses for courses. Lowe is a valuable squad member and a decent full-back. In midfield, his game is limited, being mainly based on energy and ground-coverage. His ambition is generally restricted to short or lateral passes. I don't mind having a player like that in the team, but his inclusion means the EXCLUSION of someone more creative. I agree with you that Evans isn't a true "holding" player, but he puts in a fair number of tackles and challenges.
The answer for me, therefore, might be to have Lowe in midfield for the more difficult games - especially away - but to go for a more attacking line-up in the clearly "winnable" matches.
In those, I would like to
