Although I took perverse pleasure in your defeat, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
A bunch of inexperienced players were thrown together lacking match practice and little-to-no cohesion.
On last nights defeat . Never good to lose but rather last night than this coming Saturday v Blackpool .
Rather worrying though that our back up players dont seem to cut the mustard , although Marshall getting some minutes under his belt is worthwhile .
I wasn`t there so cant comment on the performance , anyone give a comment /

not arsed about going out the league cup. think we`ll see a differant team(in every sense) for league games..
Yeah think that result just highlights that we ve actually a weak squad ..if we get major injuries to key players i really dont think the replacements are upto much ..Originally Posted by needle
A little bit of pressure on GB already ..especially if we dont win at Blackpool after forfeiting the cup game ..

Howie - I don't think it's a major worry. After all, we're never going to use more than a couple of those players at any one time.
I like Bowyer's reaction, though. Steve Kean would have given some garbled excuse. GB, on the other hand, makes the fact that he is pi**ed off very cl
I still cannot get my head round this resting of players. They are a club asset, being paid loads, they should be used. It is said that they might burn themselves out, so what! At the moment we look lethargic at the start of the season, nevermind later-on. If we blow oppertunities later-on, at least we have got into those positions in the first place.I seem to remember with Uncle Jack, we would use our assets to the benifit of the club. Shearer was an example, he was always pushed back early from injury, because he was needed by the team then, and to hell with what would happen in the future. He was being paid to be on the pitch for Blackburn Rovers.
I have to say it would have made no sense playing Jordan Rhodes against S****horpe, especially if he had got injured!
If we cant beat lower League teams with squad players,it shows the weakness of our squad but that is what they are there for.
Thank goodness we dont have to use them in European matches this season.
For me the sense would have been to have progressed in a cup competion. Players can get injured just as easily in training, or doing non football related activities where do you draw the line. Why save players for a future event that may never happen. Last season was a prime example. If, as seems likely our squad is not good enough, use the best players availeable at all times. This is my opinion and it is how I was taught to approach the game, all be it at a lower level. I still think it applies to teams in the situation the Rovers are in, ie limited resourses, mid level aspirations.Originally Posted by Bobcrompton1896
Cant understand your attitude on not being bothered going out of such a prestiegous competition, we did win it in 2002.Originally Posted by jordan12rhodes
Yes,suspect the revenue a League Cup run would generate is more than welcome.
I just think these squad players e.g.Brown on £10,000 a week(although he didnt play) shouldnt need too much incentive to perform and progress in a very highly-paid profession. However you dress it up,this was a much worse performance than last years episode at Carlisle as: 1.we had home advantage 2.we couldnt even score one goal to take the tie to extra-time where our superior(?) fitness levels should tell and 3.most of these players have been together long enough to know the system we are attempting to play ??
