'Well lose out to a wonder strike

After fairly even first half we were overrun in the second. Hardly an attack from us and deep, desperate defending was the order of the day. - view external link

See that mccall. That's what happens when you go and actually sign players.

Sounds like we exceeded expectations at the current time - and no disgrace in losing to a better team.

Decent chance to bounce back at the weekend.

How the fpuck McCall thought we deserved a point baffles me. Just back and have to say he was the master of our downfall. For the first half we played some neat football on the deck pushed guys into good spaces and Leitch was winning alot of midfield battles. Dundee Utd didn;t have a sniff in the first half.

Scond half we were utterly desperate, after 10 in you could see we were doing nothing. If we passed the ball once on the deck in the 2nd half id be amazed. It was like heady football from us we never once tried to bring the ball down consequently we lost possession time and again. Utd never lifted the ball above knee height the entire game and passed us to bits in the second half. McCall just stood there watching it. I accept we have a weakened team but he never even tried to alter our style in the second half and it was merely a waiting game until Utd scored. A shocking tactical display from Mccall 2nd half, we badly needed someone to calm it down and he never even tried it. We

Deep desperate defending because we kept booting the ball high and never once tried to get any possession. If we passed the ball three times in succession on the deck in the second half Id be amazed. They over ran us because they were never without the ball for more than 20 seconds.

Disappointed that we didn't manage a share of the spoils despite our injuries. Our line up looked as though it was designed to stop United and so it proved. Thats fine up to a point, but with Ainsworth benched there was limited pace and opportunity for an outball, and no width. Over the 90 minutes we hit the bar early on and were denied a strong penalty claim but did little else in an attacking sense. A defensive lapse allowed United to score an impressive but entirely preventable goal.

With about 20 minutes to go United exerted pressure and we tired badly. Leitch, Erwin and Law all looked exhausted and SM was far too late in making changes. We sat deeper and deeper and lost a typical "Motherwell" goal - midfield backs off and allows an attacker to run at us and unleash a free shot at goal.

Over the piece Leitch, Kerr and Erwin looked the part with Reid not far behind them. Erwin especially looks the part although he lacks in pace. A prospect I'd say. Twardzik had a mixed game -

Very poor indeed. This is going to be a very long season. I dont see anything to be hopeful about. Our team is full of guys whos legs are going and young boys. Utd bring on a guy who is capable of hitting a ball like that and what do we have to offer Bob McHugh !!!!!!. A waste of a wage but our genius manager must see something we have all missed for years. Our team has eroded away over the past few years and this year it will catch up with us. I am still awaiting to be totally underwhelmed by the new faces McCall is promising. Many are losing patience with you McCall.
