This looked like our strongest eleven against Bolton so pleased they have gone with this team.

last season's habit of conceding goals on the stroke of half time is alive and kicking...

no evidence whatsoever of learning from previous mistakes.

Second half we looked pretty good, made some great chances and forced their keeper into some saves. The problem was that the game was already dead by then. Turton was awful, Ray looked poor, Guthrie got the runaround by McGlashan and had to be helped by Bradders every time and meant that Bradders himself wasn't able to support the attack effectively. On the opposite side Waters also had to track back top often and meant that there was a permanent gap between the defense and Haber meaning long balls.

Like I said the second half was quite positive. Having Leigh on meant he could do the Bradders role back and forth and let Brad control the middle which he did well. He linked up nicely with Saunders (who looked very lively) and Haber and created problems for them. Grant should have been on from the start as he got into the game straight away and took the pressure off. Obviously it's all futile when we are already 2-0 down. We sure as hell weren't going to score three.

Yes the second half was 0-0 but we effectively played two halves with two different set ups and tactics. Given 90 minutes, I'm convinced the team that finished the game would have scored if only for the fact we were attacking and keeping the ball - something we couldn't do in the first 45.
