    Thanks JJ, at least you confirm that I'm not imagining it (easily done at my age) You're right it was opposite H&H. Are you too young to remember the Trotters? I'm not sure when it shut down (I'd p***ed off to Newcastle by then)
    There's also the pub on the corner of Newgate St which I can't remember. I do remember a TV programme called 'All our Yesterdays' which I used to slag off, which is ironic as that is what I'm turning into!!

    Boars Head was on Churchgate went in it a few times.

    Had my first "illegal" drink in The Boars Head when about 15 years old- no-one had to carry Id then !
    Then moved nearby onto the Golden Lion for a few slurps of Watney's Red Barrel , then Yates's , then went to the Balmoral... and who knows where the night finished up !
