Not sure if he isn't into his second season at Port Vale.

He did, Tim. Played 94 times for them (including a period in the Championship), scoring 12 goals between 2009 and 2012. I believe that we were paid somewhere in the region of £250,000 for his services.

Well you know what they say about scoring against your former clubs . . perhaps Nicky Ajose could open his account at the Iron - he didn't score for them in his 7 loan appearances

One final one from me, and a good one at that. Mervyn Jones (1959-61) was signed from Scunny and played for the Alex on 98 occasions, scoring 16 goals. The winger had made 240 appearances for S****horpe, scoring 27 goals.

Massive game for the Alex on Boxing Day...so who played for both Oldham and the Alex?

To start us off, I will two very good footballers.

    Billy Dearden (1966-68). Forward.
Bruce Grobbelaar (1979-80). This keeper scored from the spot in the final game of the season against York.

I saw Bruce play his first game for us at Wigan, he was outstanding, saved everything thrown at him.
Wigan got a penalty and a Wigan fan turned to me and said ' I bet he saves this as well'
He didn't but gives you an idea of our good he was that day.
We were really bad in those days pre DG
