    re: Queens v Rangers

RJC, this is the most pressing of matters.

I have no objection whatsoever, if players leave Queens to play for a 'better' club, but there must be some compensation to the club, or there is simply no point in fighting a battle without any possibility of winning.

To that end we need to extend the contracts of those players who are performing heroics for the club for several reasons: 1) It repays the loyalty and efforts of the player 2) It ensures that Queens will receive a fee if the so called bigger teams come calling 3) the player will receive a big pay day from any sale and 4) most importantly of all, Queens can reinvest the money into promoting young talent like the lads from Newcastle, to keep the whole circle going.

That is how Hamilton are where they are, they had the best youth set up in the country and Queens need to follow that example.

I totally agree with your sentiments.

I guess matters are a little clearer for the young homegrown players such as Holty, Gavin, Danny as my understanding is that if any of the foregoing move on Queens are due a "development fee". If the recent Rangers/DUFC scenario is anything to go by this system should adequately compensate a club such as us.

The problem with players like Durnan is that he has not come through our system and I strongly suspect that he will be reluctant to eztend his contract as he will want to keep his options fully open. When we first saw how good Durnan was we should probably have offered him a 3/4 year deal on positive terms to give the player some security. He may still not have committed to it but we have to be straight with the good young players - we will not stand in their way when a better offer comes along but WE also need to receive adequate compensation otherwise the system simply does not work.

I am sure the Board are well aware of the strategy that

This was only the 6th time Queens had beaten Rangers since 1933.
