Malky Mackay’s Wigan Athletic have agreed a deal to sign Leeds United duo Jason Pearce and Rodolph Austin, according to Goal.

Wigan are set to sign Austin and Pearce from Leeds
FLW exclusively revealed yesterday the news that the Latics were set to complete a deal for Jason Pearce for an undisclosed fee.

Pearce, 27, has been at the Yorkshire club since 2012 after moving from Portsmouth, and he has accrued over 100 appearances during his time at the Elland Road outfit.

The defender was the subject of interest from the Premier League in the summer transfer window from Burnley and Crystal Palace, as reported on FLW, however Malky Mackay’s Wigan Athletic now look set to complete a deal for the defender.

Wigan look set to fend off interest from Cardiff City to sign Leeds’ midfield general Rodolph Austin.

The 29-year-old midfielder has found playing time somewhat hard to get under manager Neil Redfearn, and the Yorkshire club are to let the Jamaican leave in January.

    Austin has made ov

Ramis returns to Spain to join Levante.

Spanish defender Ivan Ramis has been allowed to join Levante after his contract, due to expire this summer, was cancelled by mutual consent.

The 30-year-old joined Latics in 2012 from Real Mallorca and after impressing during the early part of the Premier League season, suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury at Fulham in January 2013 which side-lined him for the best part of 12 months and saw him miss out on the victorious FA Cup run and subsequent Europa League campaign.

His Latics career has been intermittent since his return from injury and Latics manager Malky Mackay has now sanctioned his departure.

    He said:

“Ivan asked if there was a chance he could go back to Spain because he sees his life back there again. He’s not playing at the moment and is out of contract in the summer and we felt that in both our interests, this was the best solution to go to Levante.

“The contract has been cancelled by mutual consent and I want to say g

Latics complete signing of Jason Pearce from Leeds United.

He’s hungry to play and will hopefully quickly become a fan’s favourite for the example he sets on the pitch."

Jason Pearce signs for Latics from Leeds United.
Experienced Centre-half becomes Malky Mackay’s first permanent signing.
Mackay - “Jason’s a leader and a warrior, exactly the type of player I want at the club.”
Leeds United centre-half Jason Pearce has signed for Wigan Athletic from Leeds United for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old joins Latics having made 99 league appearances for Leeds, having previously played at Bournemouth and Portsmouth.

He passed a medical at the DW Stadium today and put pen to paper on a long term deal before travelling with the team ahead of tomorrow’s Sky Bet Championship match against Ipswich Town. Pearce will wear the number 28 shirt.

Latics manager Malky Mackay welcomed Pearce to the club, saying:

“I’m delighted that he has agreed to join us. He’s someone we’v

Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager John Hughes says Wigan Athletic's offer to sign striker Billy McKay was "too good to turn down."
McKay is in Wigan completing the deal, although Hughes refused to reveal the fee involved.
"I'm 100% convinced that'll be ok and he'll be in the Wigan squad on Saturday," he told BBC Scotland
"For once it's nice to get a little bit back for all the work and effort you've put into someone."
Northern Ireland international McKay, 26, is out of contract at the end of the season.
Since joining the Highlanders from Northampton Town in 2011, he has scored 62 goals in 141 appearances.
So far this term, McKay has netted 10 times and Hughes recently said he expected the forward to leave at the end of the campaign.
"Billy wanted to go down south and he goes with our best wishes," added Hughes. "He's been an absolute joy to work with.
"He'll be missed, his goals will be missed but we'll just have to find another way to win football matches."
    Hughes challenged his of

The latest player that could be heading for the exit door at the DW Stadium is centre back Rob Kiernan.

The 24 year old could well find his options limited at the Latics with the arrival of Jason Pearce and it has emerged that both Charlton and Birmingham have shown an interest in taking the former Watford youngster either on loan or on a permanent deal.
