According to The Argus, Brighton and Hove Albion are one step closer to completing their swoop for Celtic midfielder Beram Kayal.

The Israel international, 26, has been a bit-part figure under Ronny Deila at Celtic, and a January exit always seemed inevitable, with Deila preferring to use the likes of Scott Brown, Nir Bitton or Stefan Johansen in midfield.

Last Friday, Kayal agreed a deal to join Championship side Brighton and Hove Albion, with the Seagulls confirming the move on their official site.

However, the deal was subject to a work permit being granted, and Brighton had to attend a hearing with the FA today to find out whether they would be granted one.

The deal was hanging in the balance, but the FA have today granted Kayal a work permit to play in England, according to Brighton-based newspaper The Argus.

Chris Hughton's side are now just two steps away from sealing the transfer, with just a visa and Football League registration standing in their way.
