Atsu Targets Europa Start.

Christian Atsu hopes his second-half cameo against Leicester City will earn him a start against Young Boys on Thursday.

The winger looked bright when he stepped off the bench on Sunday and delivered the cross that contributed towards Everton’s late equaliser in the 2-2 draw.

It was his second substitute appearance for the Blues since returning from Africa Cup of Nations duty, where he helped Ghana reach the final.

“I want to help my team to win and in such situations I have to do my best,” Atsu told evertontv. “When I got on the pitch I wanted to do something to make the fans happy. It’s true that I am very happy to have assisted with the goal.

“It’s always a pleasure to play in front of Everton fans. I am looking forward to the next game and I hope we will make them happy this time around.

“I am always training to start games. I don’t know what the gaffer will say but I am working hard and we will see what will happen [on Thursday].”
