    Contract offer to Erwin?

According to the Express, we have offered Lee Erwin a three year contract. He has been watched by teams from England - Ipswich Town, Preston North End and Rotherham United. - view external link

Looks like a sensible move and one that he should accept.

I agree if hes good enough he will get a bigger move but imo he needs more time at this level because if he moves to championship now i feel he will be a bench warmer at best

Sounds as though he's hedging his bets.

Why should he accept it? if he gets an offer that doubles / trebles his wages why should he stay with us. Money talks nothing else.

He's far from the finished article and I think he'll get more first team experience with us.

If he wants a career rather than a risky short term gamble then he stays. But I agree that if a shedload of money if available then he has a difficult choice.

Yes, he'll get far more playing time in the championship next year. In fact, all our young players will flourish there.

I hope we can sign him up - his agent could make sure that his contract included the right release clauses. I've no argument with the view that some clearing out needs to be done, but we need to bear in mind that if we can't even keep a Lee Erwin for financial reasons, then just who are we going to be able to sign when we lose quite a substantial number of players at the end of the season? It's been noticeable that an increasing number of decent Scottish players are moving to bigger Scottish clubs; This could mean a) they're not attracting interest from elsewhere and /or b) even the bigger Scottish clubs can't compete on wages for 'foreign' players. Not a good sign for Scottish football.
