    I fancy going over to the Isle Of Wight in the new year,how often are the ferries,can I just turn up and pay or do you have to pre book it?

    All depends Chalky.. If you are taking the car across,you will need to book , if you are on foot you can just turn up.. You can go from Portsmouth ,Southampton or Lymington

    Thanks Alf,I was hoping that you could just turn up tbh,I don't usually make any real plans when im setting off somewhere,just a general idea of where I'm heading

    If you are going to go out of season Chalky,I don't thinks you will have any bother getting on,especially if you turn up early enough I'm sure you will have no problems getting on a ferry at the last minute.. You can always give them a ring the night before to check up..

    Lymington was always the cheapest Chalks and if yo pre-booked it's even cheaper. Red Funnel from Southampton is the biggest but is quite expensive as I recall. IOW is good, lots to see just a shame they're all inbred over there.
