    Arbroath 3-1 Berwick Rangers

A strong swirling wind made good football impossible, and with the rain sweeping in off the North Sea it wasn't a night for the faint hearted.
A sparse crowd saw Berwick get a very soft penalty to take the lead and go in at the interval one up.
The second half sprung into life when a huge goalkeeper clearance saw Bobby Linn race onto it to lob the Berwick keeper to make it 1-1.
A minute later and full back Wilson cut in from the right and hit a left foot thunderbolt from 40 yards to scream Into the top corner, a real goal of the season contender.
And in the very last minute Ramsay spotted the keeper off his line and hit a shot, again from about 40 yards to clinch a 3-1 victory.

Now, two things, does this at last kick start our season, or merely paper over the cracks???

Was not there but 99% of comments on this site and P&B are fed up with our manager and style of play that they are wanting rid of Lumsden no matter the result to-night.Therefore i.m.o. it is only papering over the cracks and as far as I am concerned I am most unlikely to return as long as he is in charge.

It sounds like we dodged a bullet tonight, coming within 20 minutes of being cut adrift at the bottom of the table. We definitely have a squad that can compete in this league, but just can't get the best out of them.

Berwick sacked their manager recently and have gone from bad to worse, so be careful what you wish for. I'll be at Clyde on Saturday even if *bleep* Campbell is in charge!

A dreich night and a dreich game. Playing into the wind and rain in the first half, Berwick hit the bar in the first minute and we were on the back foot for most of the half. Didn't look like a penalty from where I was but the decision was given and Berwick went in a goal up at half time. Second half we got 3 good wind assisted goals, otherwise it was poor fare, but the conditions didn't help.
A much needed 3 points but for me another false dawn, if we hadn't had the wind behind us in the second half I doubt that we would have scored and Berwick still looked dangerous on the break.

Steeplejack I admire your "kick start our season" statement but I am firmly in the "papering over the cracks camp".

First of all well done to the players for getting a result in a dreadfull game in awfull conditions where we only started playing in the last 15 minutes after the impressive Hester came on (a player that never gets a chance) and where finally we went 2 up (again never happens) but imo "too late was the cry" and was only probably in desperation by the Manager whereas the vast majority in the crowd have been shouting for months to give Hester a chance and to play 2 up front!!
Some cracking goals as well but does not change my mind in the big picture of things as for 75 minutes we were woefull with no direction.

Little as usual was superb, Bobby drags us back in the game again (we are doomed if he leaves) and must give credit to Rutherford for his workrate.

Well done lads getting the result.

Meant to add that we were playing the worst team in the league F.F.S.

Don't know what games you've seen this season, yes two up, yes Hester, definitely time Linn left, he's obviously too good for this team.

HallelujaH!!! First win in 8 games lifts the mood a bit and keeps us off the bottom. Any cahnce of another run like the Sept-October one. That is now badly needed
