    Stay off the pitch

That's the message of today's statement by the club. .......

Following the SPFL statement dated 8th February 2016, Motherwell Football Club has today released the following update.
“Motherwell Football Club notes the decision of the SPFL Commission in relation to the Premiership / Championship Playoff 2nd Leg on May 31st 2015.
The club robustly defended itself during the lengthy process and, at its conclusion, agreed to take forward the various action points set out in the decision.
Although much of what is required of the club by the commission is being addressed by the club, it is important to emphasise the role of our supporters in helping meet the requirements of the commission.
While the club acknowledges that the end of season pitch incursions at Fir Park, by predominantly young supporters, have almost always been celebratory and without malice, incursions themselves are considered to be ‘unacceptable conduct’ and may give rise to further disorder.
    In particular, the incu

Will probably take some significant effort by stewards to keep the nerds of the pitch, media and forum posting alone won't do it and some of the nerds probably can't read anyway lol

The instruction is clear and any failure to heed it could have serious implications for our club. Unfortunately, there are too many people who see their "enjoyment" as so important to themselves that they do not choose to recognise the real harm their "wee bit of fun" will do. Unless there is a significant cordon of stewards then I fear that an incursion on to the pitch will happen. I also think there are individuals who follow other teams who will use this as a chance to cost us dear. I am pretty certain that there have been instances in the past when problems have been caused by someone who is not a 'Well fan e.g. the flare at the Rangers playoff.

    re: Stay off the pitch

Unfortunately, there's no sure way of getting certain fans to stay off the pitch. However, up until the Sevco playoff match all previous incursions were no more than guys having a jolly. Circumstances last May were totally different though, and in reality we dodged a real bullet that day. The majority of Rangers fans had left by the end (probably the ones who would've reacted to those stupid taunts). Bit of a dilemma for the club 'cos the ones they're asking to stay off the pitch are the very lads that have injected colour, atmosphere and passion into the East Stand these past 4-5 years.

Some of those who stayed did react and threw missiles, including a seat, onto the pitch. No mention of that in the SPFL's report though.
