An incident on New York Way between rival supporters would call into question SYP's ability to control crowds. The backlash would be immediate.

An incident on Don Street would be a tragedy. The Sun would blame drunken football thugs and The Mail would have knowledge that illegal immigrants had been employed as suicide jostlers. That could take 30 years or so to bring to a conclusion.

When the crowd meet on Main Street, nothing could possibly happen that couldn't be sorted swiftly with a good old fashioned cavalry baton charge.
