I can also remember finding out on the world service that the Scummers had won the Cup, 2 weeks after the final. There was a commentary on the World Service of a Scotland v England clash, a real shock at Wembley 2 weeks before was mentioned. The Submariner Petty Officer Cook was gobsmacked as I was. Who'd have thought of that lot beating United his words. My Saturday night steak was in jeopardy that evening for sure, he wasn't best pleased with my late news. RIP Stokesy, a proper Pompey boy.
