    CUFC Facebook page

I see that it describes CUFC as Cumbria's only professional football club. In the current circumstance of billionairegate, sweargate, Bellgate, Clairegate, Fansrepgate and phonehackgate (and add others as appropriate), isn't "professional" open to debate? It's just that I'm concerned that someone might sue the Club under the Trades Discriptions Act.

I thought there hasn't been any 'amateur' football clubs for decades. This was so even lower/non league players could be paid.
I suppose, as you allude to, it's a case of how you define 'professional'. Isn't it more a case of full-time professional, or part-time professional?

As you suggest deepfathom, it's about more than getting paid; nowadays the expression is mare about a high level of approach to everything. CUFC can't really claim that in the circumstances.
