For as long as i can remember, they have been good in the penalty shoot-outs, they have the mentality to succeed in major tournaments.

Giroud showing England how it's done for France, against Iceland, 1-0.

Make that 2-0, Pogba unmarked as he heads in, static defending from Iceland.

Well, the Cinderella story appears over for Iceland. Will be curious to see how they do in WCQ

3-0 France, Payet giving the keeper no chance with his effort.

Make that 4-0, Griezmann makes it look so easy.

One back for Iceland, Sigthorsson, but another for France with Giroud again on the scoresheet. Keeper no chance with the header after committing himself, 5-1.

Another one back for Iceland with the header from Bjarnason, 5-2. Too little, too late, France worthy winners in this game.

Iceland have been a credit to their nation and so have their fans. France too good on the night for them.

Entertaining game France demonstrated the gulf in skill and quality but Iceland come second to no one in spirit, effort and belief. A comprehensive 5-2 defeat but Iceland can feel proud. The result only highlights the embarrassment our bums should feel in being bounced out by such plucky minnows. But of course our lazy, unmotivated prima donnas don't grasp the concept of shame.
