What has Platini been done for, or is being investigated for ? Everything they did in 98 made me think that him and Blatter were pulling allsorts of dodgy strings behind the scenes.
To be honest though Ive seen it suggested that both England & Argentina were also 'gifted' their world cup wins as hosts. So it wouldnt surprise me if that was true.

Acido: Unless I am really mistaken Platini did not become President of UEFA until 2007 so had phuck all to do with ´98 or 2000. The fact is that France had an exceptionally good side lead by a certain Zidane coupled with a maximum amount of luck in 98 but in 2000 they were way above the other teams and no rub of the green was needed.

Receiving an under the counter $2 million payment from FIFA. Platini claims, albeit vaguely, it was for 'consultancy work' but investigaters allege it was an illegal pay off to get him to drop his challenge against Blatter for the FIFA presidency.

France's biggest corruption story was Bernard Tapei's Marseilles in the early 90s, they were found guilty of paying opponents to throw matches. France didn't need to do any of that in 98 and 2000, they were the best team in the world at the time with the worlds best player Zidane backed up with the likes of Desailly, Deschamps, Djorkaef, Makalele, Henry, Trezeguet, Viera, Lizarazu.
