there was a major incident about payment between ovett and coe before a race I think norman was also involved in that, if memory serves (and I was a kid at the time) one of them was getting a fee and one wasn't ovett I remember was in tears

Ovett once started the metro 4 mile race down at the beach for Metro Aberdeen about 20 years ago and yes he did speak about Coe but although he didn't say he wasn't keen on him we certainly could read between the lines ..
I think its fair to say Ovett is too much of a gentleman.
