Extract from a Charlton v Shrewsbury 3.0 report.

Charlton, who climb to eighth with four points from three fixtures, were rewarded for their early desire when the impressive Ricky Holmes curled them into a 22nd-minute lead.

The winger had already demonstrated his threat with his movement and several promising runs when he again received possession in midfield.

He began another, before from the edge of the area sending a right-footed effort into the top right corner beyond Shrewsbury goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler.

    Then later..

Holmes effectively secured Charlton's much-needed three points in the 31st minute by curling a left-wing corner directly over Leutwiler and into the top right.

    Worth 50p still Corky ?

Whatever one thinks of Ricky H, Northampton did really well out of his season and a half there. He was very much an integral part of their championship team last season, they then received an undisclosed fee when he left, for nearer to his home, Charlton.

Went up to London on Tuesday and met a load of Shrewsbury fans having a few pints and a pie prior to their game at Charlton in the "Barrow Boy and Banker" Pub London Bridge.....surprisingly they all had good words to say about Pompey and genuinely wished us well in rising back through the leagues!

Webbo was dropped to the Ipswich bench yesterday following an error which led to the Norwich equaliser in the East Anglian Derby last week, He came on however as a 94th min Sub as Ipswich beat Preston 1.0.

A time added on goal by Sonny Bradley saw Plymouth beat Cheltenham 1.0. We would have been in the top 3 if it hadn't been for that goal. One game at a time but if we keep playing like the first half today..................

Kieron Freeman didn't have the best of times during his loan at Fp last season. Now however he is a regular in the Sheff Utd team this season and just before half time put the Blades 3.0 up against Orient in the Cup.

What is it about ex-players and us. Freeman was absolute carp for us and yet is doing well a league above. Ricky Holmes too. John Akinde, Marquis, Jervis, Boco all banging them in. I`m sure we could add many more names. It seems to work both ways as Jed was an absolute star here but he can hardly get a sniff in a poor Wolves side.
On a different note, yesterday was really disappointing. A little cup run could have brought in some needed cash. I suppose we have the cliche of being able to concentrate on the league. God, we need to win on Sat.
