The Ashes have been excellent - if England had played more sensibly, I reckon they could have wrapped it up, but all set up well for the final two matches.

It's supposed to rain all day tomorrow.

The Aussies have made a right mess of this game, should have scored a lot more than 317 and then bowled a load of rubbish.

Can’t open it, but see that it’s Atherton.

Was it the war of brutal attrition with Allan Donald in the 1998 test v the Saffers?

Anyone who thinks cricket’s for stereotyped pooves and mincing girlies should watch it if it is. The pair of them have a right laugh about it nowadays.

Two weeks later, in an Aisne Valley heatwave, I sat in my car and through static and white noise, listened to TMS on Radio4 LW, as England won at Headingley to take the series 2-1.

Next year, I listened in again to the series in South Africa as I applied 25 million coats of varnish to a staircase we’d replaced. The only time I’ve ever been tempted to get fûcking Sky, the fûckers, was when I’d to nip into John Lewis and saw in HD 42” colour what I’d been listening to on a crystal set in the northern ‘burbs.
