    Surnames

    This is a brilliant site.

    www.forebears.io/surnames

It gives you the origin of a surname, how many people share it and other stuff.

Apparently we came from the village of Pilling and our name comes from some poles stuck round a pool or "fence-dikes"

Pilling is the 60,497th most common surname in the world.
Approximately 7,622 people bear this surname.

    What about yours?
