Not according to amnesty you’re probably thinking of the people the Govt forced to go onto the street to tell everyone how good they have it.

Squeezy plastic tubes! Mayonnaise, tomata sauce etc .... at least in a jar, ye can coax the last remnants oot wi a teaspoon .... like y dae wi jam! .... dae ye ever see jam in a squeezy tube? ... nah ye dinna! Ever seen jam in a bottle? ... nah ... didna think so.

So why sell viscous products like mayo, saad cream an' tomata sass in fkn bottles or squeezy tubes?

Many years ago noo, there wis an advert on Grumpian TV, for Heinz tommy sass ... which featured folk bangin' the bottom o' an inverted bottle o' sass ... like it wis some valued ritual ... like connectin wi the customers? Ah'll stop guessin noo ... but ... ffs .. if they jist sellt it in a jar, .... fk sake ... abody hiz a teaspoon they could employ tae get the last oot .. or even, fan the jar's full, control foo much sass is gettin clarted on fittivver ... unlike the experience o' administerin sass fae a squeezy on a bacon roll!

Add tae that, there's an aulder, mair effective squeezy tube - seeminly reserved for tommy puree, Primula (ye hae tae try the Primula cheese spread wi jalapeno! .. fkn wow! ), teethpaste, an' medicinal stuff ye apply tae kin ... like lube!

If only this kinda tube could stand upright on a supermarket shelf wi the label in 'hello' mode. Wid be great nae tae waste the last wee scoosh, or hae tae water doon the tommy sass tae get it aa through the tempramental 'nozzle'.

Also .... the 'teethpaste tube' has anither important function.

In the wake o' Engerlund's failure tae hold aloft a funcy cup, Ah suppose it'll nae rattle too mony cages tae declare ... Ah like mustard! ... and the best readily available mustard, which is a league beyond the 'mustard flavoured drizzle for poofs' usuallyoffered at burger/hot dog stalls etc ... is ... Colman's English Mustard.

Ah'm a man o' humble means ... but here's an area far Ah dinna compromise. Nithin else diz it!

The fact Ah've an English Granda, an' a son tae ma lang term English ex partner, has nithin tae dae wi it, but back tae thon tubes/jars?

Ah always wondered why ma grunny bought tubes o' CEM rether than the jar .... which worked oot cheaper ....

Many, many years later, lang efter ma grunny wis, lets say, unavailable for interview .... my half English son took a likin tae mustard .... but wis ****e at securin the lid o' the jar.

..... wi the result, ma fkn mustard lost it's 'bite' .... and might as weel hae been waapaper paste .... and there Ah had that Eureka moment .... ma grunny always bought tubes (teethpaste style) ... cos unless ye left the cap aff for aboot a month, the essential oils didna meander oot the fkn windae.

And so, tae conclude, in the war against plastic waste, lets nae go buyin squeezy plastic options ... insist on jars ... an' teethpaste/primula tubes which .... might still be plastic waste, but at least yer nae hivvin tae either chuck 'peyed for' food content, or hivvin tae wash oot said peyed for ... wi water yev peyed tae heat, an' washin up liquid yev shelled oot for .....

Ah wid ask ye tae jine me .... but yer jist gan tae laugh
