Mate of mine who’s a JKD instructor went to Israel for an intensive Krav course, and most of the course were Russian professional protection guys... not that they were unfriendly but they were mega serious about it.

Loads of fun apparently... fighting in a moving car, on uneven surfaces, in a plane.

Tried Krav before I started JKD... and dunno if it was where I tried it but it didn’t really do much for me... a bit too contrived in the little I did... but know people who swear by it.

Yep... someone pulling a knife isn’t anywhere near as uncommon as it should be.

We do a good bit of training with knives, both attacking and defending... thing is though it’s mainly about ‘defanging the snake’ foremost... and if you can pick up something even like a pen it’s better than having nothing.

If you’ve seen the Bourne films, that scene in the apartment where they fight with pens, and the fighting throughout, was choreographed and actors trained with a top JKD guy (Jeff Imada) who trains with Dan Inosanto over in California

Yeah-we do a little knife work-deal with the threat then deal with the assailant.

Never forget my instructor, years ago, demonstrating what to do after you've hopefully dealt with the knife and explaining 'look, if it's you or them, make sure it's them-what would you rather-the Police knocking on your parents' door and explaining that you won't be coming back or you explaining to the Police why someone's lying in a hospital bed...or worse?.'

Quite a sobering moment. Got to make a judgement call, I suppose-and hope your training kicks in.
