I suppose that it fills some column inches!

I laughed at the one comment on there which sums up the thinking of a 'big club' fan!

The basic premise is sound, Everton could certainly do with a striker as good as Wood, but the valuation is from Transfermarket, whose valuations for reasons which elude me are taken seriously, when in fact they're a joke, they bear no relationship to reality.

If Wood was available I would imagine the bidding would start around £25 million, I wouldn't even look at a penny less.

Sinkov they are sort of similar to stock values for bookkeeping and comparison purposes across Europe and South America, but when stock is in short supply people pay more and when there are loads of similar players people pay less. We got 3 time Keanes value and double Andres. On the other hand we got Aaron for a third of his £4.5m and let Boyd £2.25m go free.
We would want treble Woods value to let him go I Wood hope.

TM value Ronaldo at £108m for comparison now how much is he worth?

All I know is OC that players rarely go for fees remotely close to the valuation TM place on them, you've just given a few examples yourself, so for me personally they are a complete waste of time, and I don't see the purpose in anyone using them as a point of reference when discussing how much a player might go for in an actual real life deal.

Tell you what OC, me and you could get together over a pint with a list of PL players, and in half an hour we could between us compile a list of PL player valuations that would reflect far more accurately the actual fee a player would command in an actual deal, than those fantasy figures on TM. I can guarantee you we could do that no problem, of course we wouldn't get them all spot on, but if we weren't more accurate than TM in 80% of the cases, I'd throw my Burnley ST in the back of the fire.
