Bad news the Belmont picter hoose has gone into Administration, I'm not a huge cinema buff myself but my youngest is and was a regular there. So we can forget about diverse world cinema in Aberdeen now. Energy/cost of living crisis blamed,
Sad news. I was a regular for many years, but have only been around 6 times the past few years.
It's a great place, but it struggled financially for years and cannot see the council or anyone stepping in to save it.
20 people lost their jobs and around 100 through the whole group going.
Things are just so fecking grim at the moment.
Broadhill Bar no more…

The Dons bought this, a former golf clubhouse, in the early 70s, but did **** all with it. It became the Lynx Carvery about a decade later, serving sumptuous, full-fat cholestorol vegan nightmare lunches. Bands on upstairs. I forgot (The Drinking Years) who I saw there, apart from the splendid Boothill Foot Tappers.

Then it became a fine down-at-heel, sawdust-and-spit pre-match watering hole as The Broadhill Bar, which like Boston’s Cheers, or 1Up Records, everybody knew your name, with a pretty good chipper - AYE, A ****IN CHIPPER - in its northern wall.
It was also the venue for the late Ernie Winchester-organised H&R beer mini-festival in November 2004. I still have the commemorative rosette in my gig case.
Rest In Rubble.
I hate to stir up controversy but I thought of Mason when I read about a swan that caused chaos on the M8 after it flew onto the carriageway.
